1833 Book of Commandments

The 1833 Book of Commandments is a foundational scripture of the Latter Day Saint movement, containing a collection of revelations given to Joseph Smith, the movement’s founder, from 1828 to 1831. These revelations outline early doctrines, governance principles, and commandments for the nascent church. Published in Independence, Missouri, by W. W. Phelps, the book was intended to provide guidance to church members. However, mob violence disrupted the printing, and only a limited number of copies were salvaged, making it a rare and historically significant artifact. Many of these revelations were later revised and expanded in the Doctrine and Covenants, a subsequent compilation of scripture.
